This contract consisted of wire sawing this anchor block into 3No pieces for removal by crane using our Hilti Group WS15. We then had to core drill a hole in the center with our Hilti Group DD350 and burst the sections in two using our Darda C9 Hydraulic Splitter. This reduced the weight down to the safe working load of the crane. All the works in and around the block had to be carried out wearing fall arrest and harness as there was a risk of falling down the embankment whilst on the outer edge. We also installed 4No 25mm expansion anchors into each piece at measured locations as per the lift plan. A pull-out test was carried out on each anchor up to 20KN to ensure the anchor held when carrying out the initial lift. All in all, the contract went extremely well and finished on time and no issues.
