We were asked by a customer in Hampshire to stitch-drill a 3m diameter circle in the floor of their underground house so they could install a sunken BBQ. We used our Hilti DD350 to carry this out, with 94No 127mm holes drilled to a depth of 400mm through brick and concrete. We then used out Hilti TE1000 to break out the inside down to depth. All the rubble had to be removed in tubs by hand, carried up a flight of stairs, then walked across the top of the house to be disposed of.
The house itself is actually an old underground reservoir and no machinery can be driven on the top for structural safety. The owners have done an incredible job of building a house inside, all with their own skills and hard work and it’s looking great! I look forward to seeing it finished as its going to be an amazing space.
