Removal and Adjustment of an Existing Reinforced Concrete Retaining Wall For Colmar Construction at Allington Road, Sandbanks, Poole.
Our 3 phase hydraulic track saw was used on this particular job, which involved having to cut 22No 600mm circular concrete piles horizontally. There was also a capping beam which integrated into the piles and needed cutting down to manageable loads of 750mm x 600mm @ 2 metres long. This could then be removed by the 21 ton excavator supplied from our in-house plant department which gave us the capabilities of moving the concrete blocks, and disposing of them using the 8 wheeled tipper lorry’s also supplied buy our sister company, this is a great asset to our clients and keeps the continuity in the contract.
Having this in-house service for our customers gives us the versatility and scope to cover a number of issues that jobs like these incur, and the ability to control it all within our company without having the time and cost of sorting each individual piece of the puzzle out. As we all know time is money and keeping it well organised can save you a vast amount of time.
We also used our 1.6 metre diamond track saw blade in this case due to the depth of cut needed for the capping beam. That’s quite a sight when you see it in the flesh but does give us the capabilities to track saw cut down to a depth of 720mm and to unlimited lengths.
We were not allowed to remove the sub soil from behind the piles due to it being a sensitive area, otherwise the 3 phase hydraulically powered wire saw would have been another viable option. This gives you the ability to fix in one position and direct the diamond beaded wire to different locations using guide wheels. A very effective method when room is an issue, and others such as working from height, confined space, structural instability, all a huge problem within the industry.
This job was finished safely, ahead of schedule with little or no disruption to the site activities. These results are what we as a company would expect to deliver every time for our customers and is what we believe in as our core values.
