We carried out a contract for a local developer to cut out 4No lift shaft openings in a reinforced concrete slab 300mm thick. We used our Hilti WS15 to carry out this task, as he wanted a neat cut with no stitch drilling allowed. We had to use an aluminium gantry along with certified lifting fixtures and fitting to support the cut concrete blocks once cut, and to attach the fall arrest equipment that was worn when working near the opening. We also had to carry out a pull-out test on the drop-in anchors to confirm they would hold the weight. Once the block was cut ,we then lowered it onto a pallet truck and removed it outside for the crane to remove to the designated skip. We then had to direct the wire down from our new opening to the next floor below and repeat the process. Water control was needed the whole time as it requires a lot of water. This whole project was quite a challenge due to the lack of space and the need to get equipment down to the floors below. We managed it on time and with no issues whatsoever which left a happy customer and more work to come our way because of our skills and professionalism.
